The artist has handed over the entirety of his £25k Mercury Prize prize money to the trust for venues, which functions to preserve the UK's grassroots concert spaces.
The star was presented with the cheque on 16 October as his third album his work was declared the best record of the last 12 months.
The musician has chosen to give the cash to the trust, in acknowledgment of the vital role small stages fulfilled in his beginning days.
"As an artist couldn't be pursuing my current career if it wasn't for all the gigs I played around the region, and further afield, when I was just getting going," said Sam Fender. "These locations are renowned, but they are facing challenges."
Since the start of 2023, at least 150 of these locations have shut down – roughly 16% of the entire UK sector.
In the last year, top acts like Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all backed the MVT in its attempts to support the industry, by applying a small levy to their ticket prices, which goes to help local stages.
Sam Fender also participated, collecting over £100k on his 2024 arena tour to help numerous small stages across the UK.
These funds helped venues that were dealing with imminent closure due to issues stemming from floods, fires and personal losses, as well as licensing issues, legal disputes and sound issues.
Some locations received financial assistance in modernizing facilities and sound and lighting systems that directly benefitted musicians and concertgoers.
"The concept that money from concerts in large arenas helps the local stages, where it begins for performers like me, is just common sense," the star has commented.
He is not the first artist to donate his award funds to charitable organizations.
In the band received the prize in the year 1996 for their release Different Class, vocalist the singer declared that the act would give their winnings to the organization the charity.
In 2002, musician Ms Dynamite divided her bounty across several good causes, such as the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell charity.
"Additionally, I gave a thousand pounds to the center, to their gymnastics program, because I trained in gymnastics when I was younger and they lacked better apparatus," Ms Dynamite shared with a publication.
Previously, the band donated their funds to the youth organization that supported their band, as well as other grassroots music organisations.
Also winners that year M People gave their winnings to a charity for MS after a friend was found to have the disease.
"The victory was quite enough," stated artist the singer. "The money was the cherry on top but we could do without the bonus, because we had the cake. So our winning impacted the lives of others."
In the past week, the Music Venues Trust announced it had protected several small stages in the South East, by bringing them into community ownership.
The Joiners in that area and the second in Bristol were bought under the public acquisition scheme, which is funded by the arts council and enthusiasts who acquire "shares" in the venues.
